Peanuts are grown on farms in the Western Chinandega region of Nicaragua, from where they are transported onwards for processing prior to export.
The Variety of peanut currently grown by our farmers is a high oleic variety called the FL07, a variety bred in Florida.
We also work closely with an American peanut plant breeder who uses traditional plant breeding methods (therefore strictly no GMO) to breed special varieties of peanuts for farmers to plant. The breeder works exclusively with High Oleic peanut varieties and is constantly working on variety improvement with both the peanut grower and the final consumer in mind. This means that focus is not only on yield and disease resistance to maximise the income potential for the farmer, but also on important characteristics like flavour and crunch to satisfy the consumer!
